Aug 21, 2019 The latest versions of the software applications are available for download from this web site. For instructions on how to install and use the software after downloading, refer to the User's Manual that came with the display.
The Linux partitions are small - about 140Mb or so each (If memory serves correctly) - don't worry about them as this format process is completely automated - you won't even know they are there unless you go looking for them using special software (they won't show up using the generic Windows Explorer). All you do is go into the format option when setting up the Mede8er and everything gets handled automatically - it's all very user-friendly so you don't need to be a tech with 6 acronyms behind your name. Hi Stefan, It is fine to install a pre-formatted HDD into your Mede8er for basic functionality, but if you wish to make use of certain of the enhanced functionality then it would be advisable to format the HDD within the Mede8er.
I'm not sure myself at this point what makes use of the SWAP drive and hidden partitions but there is certain future functionality that may require them so be a good boyscout and be prepared. It should be theoretically possible to move or resize your NTFS partition and create the required partitions after the fact IF one has the necessary software, know-how and nerve to do so, but that is not recommended and there are certainly no guidelines to do so and things could go horribly wrong and you could lose all of your media. Just put a 1.5TB Seagate SATA II 7200/32mb in my new MED500X and selected the format option.
After formatting the System Info reports. Serial: Unknown model: ST31500341AS capacity: 1023GB freespace: 1TB When I connect it to a PC via USB, windows 7 reports: 1396.79 GB NTFS 157 MB Unknown format 157 MB Unknown format 158 MB Unallocated Q1, Why does the MED500X system info only report 1TB. Why is there 158MB unallocated. Can I delete the NTFS and fill the unallocated with an NTFS to recover the missing 150 MB Q4. If I do nothing, When I fill the 1.4 TB will the MED500X be able to access all the files? Thanks in advance. Hi Woody, Q1, Why does the MED500X system info only report 1TB.
You need to upgrade your firmware - the earlier firmware didn't recognise certain hard drives' capacities beyond 1TB - this was merely a reporting issue though - you don't lose that space at all. Firmware v1.2.2a will resolve.
Why is there 158MB unallocated. There are certain areas on the drive which are used by the Mede8er OS - I'm not exactly sure why it shows as 'unallocated' but rather don't touch these partitions. Can I delete the NTFS and fill the unallocated with an NTFS to recover the missing 150 MB Please don't do it - leave it as is. If I do nothing, When I fill the 1.4 TB will the MED500X be able to access all the files? Apologies for the thread necro but I need some advice and cannot find it. I'm upgrading the hardrive in my 1000X3D from 1tb to 2tb.
I am currently moving all the data on the 1tb drive to my pc. I have a usb 3.0 external drive but it isn't co-operating with the Mede8er so I'm using a 250gb 2.5' usb 2.0 external to copy data from the Mede8er which in turn I will transfer to my pc. Now, can I format the 2tb hardrive in the Mede8er, remove it and connect it to my pc?
Will my pc pick it up or will my pc need to format the drive and if my pc does format the drive will the linux partitions installed doing the format on the Mede8er be wiped? Assuming the pc see's the drive can I copy all the data back to the 2tb drive for installation in the Mede8er???
